Crieff Arts Festival presents the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry

Diaspora will be exhibited in full for first time in Scotland

A major piece of work depicting scenes of Scottish history is being exhibited in its home land for the first time.  The national treasure will go on display in Crieff this summer.

The world famous Diaspora Tapestry will be exhibited in full as part of the Strath capital’s Crieff Remembers programme of events to commemorate First World War in July.

June McEwan of Crieff Arts Festival has secured the major artwork, which has just returned from a world tour and is currently on display in Westminster at the Houses of Parliament.

The tapestry’s designer Andrew Crummy, who also designed the Great Tapestry of Scotland, will also be coming to Crieff to give a talk at Innerpeffray Library about his work.

The tapestry involves 39 countries, and although it has been on a world tour, has never been shown in its entirety in its native land.

The Parade will include men of The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland as well as 51st Highland, 7th Battalion. Legion Scotland will be strongly represented: National and Branch Standards will be on parade, as well as veterans, supported by a number of Legion Pipe Bands. Other veterans will take part, together with Cadets and youth organisations. The Salute will be taken by Major General M L Riddell-Webster, CBE DSO, Governor of Edinburgh Castle. The Parade will be followed by a Drumhead Service in Crieff’s historic Market Park, music for which will be provided by the Military Bands of 7 SCOTS and 6 SCOTS.

Following the commemorative ceremonial, Legion Scotland will present a family event in the Market Park - games and bouncy castles for the children, charity stalls, competitions, re-enactments, all culminating in a Retreat Parade to bring a fitting end to the day. Crieff Highland Gathering

A very warm welcome to Crieff Highland Gathering - this year to be held on
Sunday the 20th of August .

Since 1870 as one of Scotland’s longest running Games, Crieff is particularly fortunate to have a wonderful bespoke Games field (The Market Park) with its natural amphitheatre adding to the amazing atmosphere in this great and very traditional highland gathering.

In addition to the great spectacle of the pipers athletes, dancers and those amazing heavy weight competitors, we in Crieff, have also added a wide range of new and amazing attractions to help make your visit truly memorable

The sight and sound of the massed piped bands marching, past the Square in Crieff and down to the Games field will deliver an impressive start to what will, all in all, be another day to be remembered at The Crieff Highland Gathering.

24 - 27 August 2017
Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair

The event with something for everyone…

Equestrian sport dominates the four days, competitors ranging from Olympic champions to local Pony Club children and everyone in between, and many different types of equestrian competition can be seen. If you are not especially horse-crazy though, fear not, there is still plenty to watch and lots of things to keep you entertained!

The Bruadar Country Fair…

The Bruadar Country Fair takes place on Saturday and Sunday, and showcases all sorts of countryside pursuits. Displays in the Bruadar Country Fair Arena in recent years have encompassed everything from traditional countryside pastimes such as falconry and gundog training to the more modern activity of quad bike stunt riding!

Superb shopping…

Over 200 trade stands offer something to suit every taste and every budget. Fine art, casual and country clothing, jewellery and vehicles are all available. A large food hall is full of delights – handmade chocolates, organic and rare breed meats, pastries and baked goods, fine wines… delicious! Equestrian shoppers too will be in their element, with tack, clothing, horseboxes, jumps, feed and bedding all on offer.

Perth Races - Autumn Race Day

Autumn Raceday

Summer may be over but the racing season isn't! It's our first autumn fixture and we want you to join us in celebrating the best of Scottish food and drink!

This is one of the last fixtures of our season and as we head into the home straight for 2017, some of the stars of the winter jumps scene will be in attendance.

Last year, Grand National-winning trainer Donald McCain was on the mark in this fixture but there was also Scottish and local success for Lanarkshire’s William Young and Glenfarg based Lucy Normille.

As well as a fantastic race card featuring six top-class jump races, we will be celebrating the best of Scottish food and drink – making this a must attend fixture for all foodies.

So come along for an afternoon of fun, food and drink – as we kick off autumn in true Scottish fashion!

There are seven races in all for you to enjoy, with our gin bar open in the Grandstand enclosure for you to visit between races. Make sure you head to the Parade Ring before you place your bets to get a good look at the runners – the yards from the south of England dominated last year but who knows what will happen this time around!

So get your fancy tweeds on and enjoy a fantastic day of racing as we come to the end of another great season at Perth!

Get yourself to the betting ring to place your final bets of the season and end on a high!
